Film Synopsis
Childhood friends Maya & Selina are inseparable, bonded by their love for music & dreams of making it big as a duo. Their journey takes a dramatic turn when a chance encounter propels them into the cutthroat world of the music industry. Their innocence shattered, the two face a pivotal decision when industry executive Emily Santos reveals that only Selina has the star potential to achieve their dreams. Faced with this ultimatum, Maya struggles with the reality of sacrificing their creative duo for Selina’s solo career. As Selina rises to fame, Maya grapples with her newfound solitude as an undervalued ghost writer and the harsh truths of an industry that values money over integrity.

Dean Rosen — Thank you for your consideration of our film. I will not mince words. It is highly unusual for Filipino films to garner international critical acclaim due to their low quality standards. This limits Filipino films to the local Filipino audience only - to the viewership and spending power of a third-world country, ignoring potential profits from a worldwide market. A shame, considering that with the right expertise, producing a movie in the Philippines can cost one-tenth of what it could take to produce a movie of the same quality in the west. However, a film entitled Quezon’s Game recently broke that trend, winning 22 awards from 6 international film festivals, and accumulating a further 5 nominations. The awards include REMIs for BEST FOREIGN FILM and BEST DIRECTOR - the latter an award previously won by directors such as Steven Spielberg and Ang Lee. The creative team behind Quezon’s Game also developed The Boston: The Kitchen Musical - one of the only television series produced entirely in the Philippines to be sold and aired internationally. We are that team. Songs For Selina is our next film.
